Holy Saturday: God and Country Music

Today we give remembrance to our Lord Jesus Christ's death and the day waiting for his resurrection.  He knows our wounds and longed to connect with us.  While we are in this dark valley with the pandemic, we can be comforted knowing he is with us.  Turn to him in our hours of darkness and he will deliver us.

Today in these George Strait ballads Johnny Cash had his moments of valley darkness and God never left him.  God is helping us look up to see the mountain top.  We look with heavy anticipation for the resurrection of Christ with us to overcome our dire circumstances.  All we need is to kneel down and pray, confess our sins, and ask for His deliverance.

Pastoral Meanderings: His wounds are His glory and our healing
What Goes Up
I walk through the valley of the shadow of death
Caught a glimpse of Heaven when I couldn't catch my breath
I felt His presence in the darkest of days
I've asked for direction,
And I've been shown the way
And I believe when I pray, somebody hears
When I fall on my knees, my words aren't fallin' on deaf ears
And He has the answers
When the answers can't be found
I know without a doubt what goes up comes down
I've been lead from temptation
Though I was standing at its door
Delivered from evil when I could run no more
I've seen the eyes of God through the eyes of a child
I've thanked Him for my blessings
And I've felt it when he smiled
And I believe when I pray, somebody hears
When I fall on my knees
My words aren't falling on deaf ears
And He has the answers

God and country music are like whiskey and a prayer
Like Johnny Cash's arm around Billy Graham
God and country music
They both never change
You find 'em when you need 'em
Where you stand
There's always lost in the found
And darkness in the I-saw-the-light
It's living in the small towns
In some church and backroad honky tonk tonight
It's a dance between the sin and the salvation
Come hell or high water
There's two things still worth saving
God and country music
God and country music
God and country music
They both showed you the truth
Seen the low of the valley
And the highs of the mountains too
Folded hands and guitar strings
Jukebox preachers and angels singing
Call you like they knew ya
Between the hell and hallelujah
There's always lost in the found
And
